First post - four Monday storms

18 Fairway
In 1979 the Boomtown Rats released a single that rocketed to the top of the charts and stayed there for four weeks.  The song was called "I don't like Mondays".  I couldn't agree more.

The month of December 2010 had three Mondays in a row where there were torrential rains and high winds which resulted in flooding and downed trees. Then on the January 3, 2011, another storm, another Monday, more rain snow and wind.
Large hemlock blown over on the left side of Number 12.
The damage to the golf course mainly came in the form of washed out bunkers and tree damage.  Although the flooding looks impressive, it was early enough in the year that the drains were not frozen and the water had some where to go.  After a few days the water dissipated, but the ground remained very soft for the most of the month.

The biggest concern during this series of storms was the welfare of the tarps.  It's still early in the year and the ground hasn't frozen yet, the staples holding the tarps down lack purchase in the rain softened ground.   The high winds can work the staples out of the ground and potentially tear or blow the tarps away.  To prevent this sandbags are place on the tarps to hold them in place until the ground is hard enough  for the staples to hold.   Fortunately there were only minor repairs to be made and the tarps are now firmly in place until the spring.
